Sanctuary S1

My first project on Sanctuary was to produce a logo and the accompanying vinyls for the fictional bus company ‘UK Express Coach Service.’ The logo was designed to mimic contemporary UK bus companies, referencing commonplace colour palettes while keeping the imagery unique.

Producing postcards for Shula’s kitchen was easily one of my favourite projects on the show. Each one was painted in procreate while the type was done in illustrator. I also used a custom rubber stamp I designed to mimic franking marks that we could layer over the handwritten messages.

I was tasked with creating two tile designs for Shula’s house; Shula being a wise and eccentric witch with a noteably machiavellian flare. One set of tiles was intended for the splashback for her kitchen and the other two sets were to sit behind the stoves in her rather lush two-story library. Set drawing is of course by the lovely Owen Power.

The following is a series of books I designed for Shula’s sprawling personal library utilising images from the Met Gallery featuring works by various artists such as Daniel Hopfer and Francesco Albani.

These were some of the graphic props I worked on for the police station,  including the paraphernalia carried by Beatrice’s attorney. Her parents are quite well off so we felt they’d only hire the best to represent her - suggested by both the design and the sum on the invoice.

The printed ephemera I produced for the show encompassed a lot of my favourite pieces - sepsis and imews charts and rounds checklists for the hospital, seating charts and timetables for the school, etc. The hospital set was also my first opportunity to do hands on set dec - giving me practical experience and a chance to see my work in context.

Easily the most ambitious project I produced while part of the Sanctuary art department was designing and wrapping the vending machine for the police station with the help of the lovely Aoife Kelly. This was particularly exciting as the script called for the scene to orbit around the vending machine in particular.
